Halli what???

N27bn Halliburton scam IBB, Abdulsalami, Diya, 77 others indicted By Emeka Umejei Reporter, Lagos EIGHTY PERSONS, foreigners and Nigerians, the living and the dead, among them four former Heads of State and two of their wives, as well as former Governors and Ministers – indeed the top echelons of the country’s political and military establishments, including technocrats – have been indicted by the United States law enforcement officials over the N27 billion Halliburton bribery scandal. Among the foreigners are Jack Chagoury, Gilbert Chagoury, and T.W. Oerlemans, an Australian; but they are rather small fish compared with indicted former Nigerian Heads of State Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha, Ernest Shonekan, and Abdulsalami Abubakar. Maryam, the late wife of Babangida; Mariam, the wife of the late Abacha, and his son, the late Ibrahim, are included; likewise Mike Akhigbe, the second in command in the Abdulsalami junta; former Abia State Governor, Orji Kalu; and former military Governor

Private Universities... New craze....

Just read that a former Gov is about to open his own University. Click here for the full story. The question at the back on my mind is,'Why another institution'? Maybe I am wrong to think this way. Nigeria as a nation at times compare herself to the United States Of America but then fail to understand that the USA is a continent on its own and not a country. After about 75 Federal, State and church owned Universities Is what we need another University? Where did this Governor get the money to setup this institution? Where did they all? Obasanjo established a university - Bells University of Technology (BUT) Atiku established a university - ABTI-American University Nnamani (ex Gov) runs the affairs of Renaissance University and now ex Gov. Orji Kalu Of course there are others I do not know If I may ask... What happened to upgrading existing infrastructures? What happened to creating more jobs ...Not for lecturers and Professors now but for the millions of unemployed graduates -

My thoughts...

What is the problem my Nigeria? Why are those that lead so without vision and cannot think? A reputation that had been dented now is fast becoming irreversible What are they doing to fix the problem… nothing? Maybe we are too complacent Maybe we are weak Maybe we just do not have it in us to challenge authorities …and demand for justice and fairness. Where is our President? What has rebranding achieved? What are we doing to correct the negative views of the world against us? Can we blame them for these views? I do not think so. The very government that is supposed to protect and defend the nation The same government is milking it empty and dry A government that favours increment of 'wellbeing package' of its past presidents than the life of its citizens A government cannot account for funds and deliberately go against its own constitution A government that promises to deliver when they know that they will not It is unfortunate that these things happen I wish I have a solution
